THE SMILODON, by Jana Rius Cabré E1E
It was a fierce predator about 1.2-1.5 m long and 0.9 m tall. It weighed about 200 kg and it was probably brown (the same colour that the actually lions).
It had four short legs and a small tail. It also had two huge and big canines and powerful jaws. Smilodon was a carnivore, it ate meat.
Smilodon was the largest saber-toothed cat. It first appeared about 1.6 million years ago and lived in North and South America. It went extinct 11.000 years ago. The smilodon lived during the last ice age on the Earth.
Most probably, they became extinct because people hunted them and because the ige age killed them off.
